Two Agents Argue With A Passenger Over His Late Check-In

According to the New York Post, the incident occurred on Friday, May 2, when a male customer intended to travel from Raleigh to Boston. According to sources, he reached the airport 50 minutes before his flight was set to take off, missing Frontier’s strict 60-minute check-in deadline.

Since he could not use the self-service kiosk anymore, he approached the counter, only to be informed of a $25 “agent assist fee” for in-person check-in. The passenger was caught off guard and argued with the agents as he expressed his frustration over the unexpected charge. He pulled his phone out to record the argument, as he’s heard saying, “I’m never flying this sh—y airline again.”

Things Got Heated As The Argument Continued

The situation quickly escalated as the customer still refused to pay the additional sum. However, the agents were unwilling to change their minds given the company’s policy. Instead, they began filming him with their phones before mocking him with, “And you thought you was gonna get on your flight?”

One agent added, “Make me check you in,” while her colleague laughed. The passenger insisted he had paid for his ticket, but the agents dismissed him due to his late arrival. Per the NY Post, the customer ended up booking a new flight with JetBlue, which cost him $500. But his ticket with Frontier was refunded after he filed a complaint against the agents.

Frontier Airlines Says The Agents Are No Longer “Associated” With The Company

Well, not even a week after the video was posted, the two Frontier Airlines gate agents are no longer employed with he company. Frontier Airlines, addressing the incident in a statement to TMZ, said:

“We are aware of what occurred and have been directly in touch with the customer. The individuals in question, who work for a third party contractor, are no longer associated with the Frontier account.”

The airline emphasized that the agents were employed by a third-party contractor, further distancing itself from their actions. Meanwhile, the fired individuals, whose identities have not been disclosed, haven’t said a word about their apparent termination as of yet.

Social Media Reacts To The Video

The video, which was uploaded to X user Collin Rugg’s page, had amassed over 15 million views within two days after it was posted on Tuesday, May 6. Peep some of the reactions from the thread below…

@moment-mirthful tweeted, “@FlyFrontier, I would NEVER fly Frontier after seeing this video of these two women giving this customer such a difficult time! I hope whoever he is sees this and files a Civil Rights Violation! This is SO wrong!”

@Eng1neerjack wrote, “Well that’s why you don’t fly frontier Airlines. I have started flying again for work. But I will not fly frontier airlines”

@HighRockMikey tweeted, “I feel like there’s more to this story. Customer *might* be wrong. Employees attitudes are *definitely* wrong. Even though there could be more context, this isn’t good PR for Frontier Airlines. Especially with 15M+ views.”

Elsewhere, DLJamesOrtega wrote, “Deadline to check in is minimum an hour before the flight. The attendants are in the RIGHT and the guy holding the camera is WRONG.”
